Amplex is pleased to welcome three new municipal customers: Kalundborg, Guldborgsund, and Faxe municipalities. Following the closure of Andel Lumen’s operations, these municipalities sought a reliable partner to manage their street lighting infrastructure—and chose Amplex. Together, these three contracts represent the management of approximately 600 street lighting cabinets across the municipalities.
Finding the Right Partner
When Andel Lumen ceased operations, the municipalities needed to quickly secure a new partner for their street lighting management. Kalundborg Municipality conducted a formal tender process, and Amplex was selected to take over the operations. The transition needed to be smooth and cost-effective to avoid disruption to the lighting service.
Seamless Transition, Enhanced Capabilities
All three municipalities had been using the Signify/Philips system that Andel Lumen had deployed. Thanks to the compatibility between this hardware and Amplex’s GridLight platform, the transition was straightforward. The existing infrastructure remains in place, but now benefits from Amplex’s advanced management capabilities and proven track record.

Flexibility for the Future
One of GridLight’s key strengths is its scalability and flexibility. The municipalities can mix and match control solutions—combining cabinet-level controllers in some areas with individual luminaire control in others—all managed through the same system. With 600 cabinets now under management, this flexibility is essential for efficiently handling diverse lighting zones across urban centers, residential areas, and rural roads. As their needs evolve, they can easily expand functionality without replacing infrastructure.
Our gridDOT modules open up possibilities that weren’t available with their previous system: adaptive dimming based on real-time traffic data, predictive maintenance through luminaire health monitoring, and integration with smart city initiatives. The BLE-based traffic detection we’ve developed—the only solution of its kind in the world integrated into a Zhaga controller—allows every street light to become a traffic sensor, providing valuable data for urban planning while optimizing energy consumption.
